India is making a commanding impression at the 55th edition of the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, currently underway at Expo Centre Sharjah. Running until June 1, the prestigious event brings together over 500 exhibitors from across the globe, with India showcasing its rich jewellery heritage and design prowess through a prominent national pavilion.

Spearheaded by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), India’s participation features 11 leading companies under one roof, reflecting the country’s growing influence in the global luxury accessories sector. The India Pavilion serves as a strategic platform to highlight the nation's artistry in gold, diamonds, and precious gemstones, and to strengthen trade ties with the UAE and other key markets.

India's presence comes at a time of heightened bilateral trade activity. Following the implementation of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), India's gem and jewellery exports to the UAE have surged by over 60%, climbing from $4.95 billion in FY2022 to $8.04 billion in FY2024. This growth underlines the value of participating in high-profile international exhibitions such as this one.

The Sharjah show, one of the longest-running and most influential jewellery trade fairs in the Middle East, covers over 30,000 square meters and hosts exhibitors from more than a dozen countries, including Italy, China, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United States. The event is expected to draw over 80,000 visitors, bolstered by its timing just ahead of the Eid Al Adha holiday.

Among the standout attractions this year is a 108-meter diamond necklace unveiled by Amaar Jewels, poised to set a Guinness World Record. Workshops, design showcases, and networking events are also part of the five-day programme, providing a holistic platform for industry professionals to engage, learn, and collaborate.

Backed by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the biannual exhibition continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the jewellery trade across the region. For India, it offers an opportunity to reinforce its reputation as a global hub for fine craftsmanship and to explore new business prospects in one of its most dynamic export destinations.
