De Beers and Sotheby’s are set to conclude their 2026 international high jewellery auction collaboration with a final sale in New York, following earlier auctions held in Hong Kong and Geneva. The New York auction will feature a curated selection of natural diamonds that form part of the cross-continental series.

Among the lots in the New York sale are two pear-shaped D-colour diamond rings and an 11.33-carat old-mine brilliant-cut D-colour Type IIa diamond. According to the organizers, the auction series has focused on the provenance, craftsmanship and rarity of natural diamonds while connecting collectors across different global markets.

The collaboration began in Hong Kong, where featured pieces included a 3.03-carat pear-shaped diamond ring, a pair of brilliant-cut diamond earrings totalling 4.01 carats, and the 28.88-carat De Beers Jwaneng 28.8, described as a D-colour flawless Type IIa diamond. In Geneva, highlighted stones included 1.10-carat and 1.06-carat pink diamonds, along with a matched pair of 18.38-carat brilliant-round diamonds graded D-colour, one flawless and the other internally flawless.

The companies noted that buying patterns continue to evolve, with increasing numbers of consumers purchasing diamonds for personal ownership rather than solely for gifting or investment. The release states that nearly half of global diamond purchases are now made by women for themselves, reflecting changing consumer preferences and self-purchasing trends.

As part of the initiative, Peace Parks will receive a portion of the auction proceeds. According to the organizers, the contribution is intended to support landscapes and communities associated with natural diamond-producing regions. The New York sale marks the final stage of the De Beers and Sotheby’s 2026 auction collaboration spanning Asia, Europe and the United States.
