Christie’s will offer The Azure Blue, a 31.62-carat fancy blue pear-shaped diamond, at its upcoming Magnificent Jewels auction scheduled for June 9 at Rockefeller Center in New York.
The diamond, estimated at $6.5 million to $8.5 million, is being presented by Christie’s Jewelry Department in collaboration with The Fine Art Group, an independent global advisory firm. Christie’s stated that the stone is the largest fancy blue diamond ever offered at auction.
According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the diamond has been graded as natural color, fancy blue, and potentially Internally Flawless. The stone is set in a ring and noted for the uniformity of its color.
Christie’s said blue diamonds of comparable size, purity, and tone remain scarce in the market, while collector demand for high-quality colored diamonds continues to increase amid tightening global supply.
Claibourne Poindexter, Head of Jewelry, Americas at Christie’s, said, “With its striking color, exceptional size, and elegant shape, The Azure Blue is a rare masterpiece of nature. As the largest Fancy Blue diamond ever offered at auction, Christie’s is honored to present this superb stone to a new generation of collectors this June.”
The auction will take place live at Rockefeller Center, with Christie’s expected to announce additional highlights in the coming weeks.
