Christie's will present a 15.49-carat Kashmir sapphire ring at its upcoming Magnificent Jewels auction in New York on June 9, with the gemstone expected to achieve between $1.2 million and $1.8 million.
The ring features a cushion-shaped Kashmir sapphire set between tapered baguette-cut diamond shoulders. According to the auction house, the gemstone displays the velvety blue appearance associated with sapphires originating from the Kashmir region, one of the world’s most sought-after sources for coloured gemstones.
The lot forms part of Christie’s broader Magnificent Jewels sale, which includes important diamonds, coloured gemstones and signed jewellery pieces from leading maisons and private collections.
The auction reflects continued strength in the global market for rare coloured gemstones, particularly Kashmir sapphires, Burmese rubies and Colombian emeralds, which have remained highly competitive categories at international auctions over recent years.
Auction houses have increasingly highlighted provenance and rarity as key value drivers in the high-jewellery segment, with Kashmir sapphires continuing to command premium estimates due to limited supply and strong collector demand.
Christie’s stated that the New York sale will also feature significant coloured diamond offerings and historic jewellery pieces, targeting international collectors and private buyers seeking investment-grade gemstones.
The sale comes amid sustained global interest in high-value coloured stones, with auction results across New York, Geneva and Hong Kong continuing to demonstrate resilience in the top end of the jewellery market despite broader economic uncertainties.
