The Rome-based luxury brand has significantly increased the size of its Manifattura Bvlgari site, which it now considers the largest single-brand jewellery manufacturing facility in the world. The expanded site was officially inaugurated last week.
Founded in 1884 in Rome by Greek silversmith Sotirio Bulgari, the company became part of the LVMH Group in 2011. LVMH recently reported a modest 1 per cent rise in quarterly revenue for its watches and jewellery segment, though no specific figures for individual brands were disclosed.
The Valenza facility, which opened in 2017 with 370 artisans, has grown from 14,000 to 33,000 square meters and now employs 1,100 artisans. By 2029, that number is expected to reach 1,600.
The expanded site is designed with sustainability in mind, aiming to be carbon neutral. It features geothermal and photovoltaic systems that supply up to half of the site’s energy requirements, with the remaining energy needs met by fully renewable sources.
