
The 5th edition of the Bharat Diamond Week commenced with great enthusiasm at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai. International dignitaries from Angola, Botswana, and a buying delegation representing over six economies, along with Indian buyers, graced the exhibition. Despite the current volatile situation, the "only Diamond and Diamond Jewellery" exhibition, BDW, witnessed significant buyer participation. The presence of industry luminaries in Mumbai during the 5th edition of the Bharat Diamond Week serves as a testament and motivator for the entire Gems and Jewellery sector.
Delegates from Angola, including Dr. Jose Galiano, Advisor to the Minister of the Ministry of Mineral Resources Petroleum and Gas, Dr. Eugenio Bravo Da Rosa, Chairman/CEO of SODIAM E.P., Mmetla Masire, Managing Director of Okavango Diamond Co, Botswana, K.P. Abdul Salam, Vice Chairman of Malabar Group, and Yoram Dvash, President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, graced the occasion as guests of honor. Additionally, international buying delegations from over six economies worldwide visited BDW in Mumbai to experience and explore the high-quality products showcased at the fair.
Anoop Mehta, President of Bharat Diamond Bourse, welcomed the international dignitaries and visitor delegation from India and abroad during his opening address. He expressed confidence in the industry's resilience and the role that events like the Bharat Diamond Week and other international exhibitions and conferences play in restoring the industry to its former glory.
Dr. Eugenio Bravo da Rosa delivered a keynote address emphasizing the enduring relationship between Angola and India, expressing gratitude to the Bharat Diamond Bourse for inviting the Angolan delegation to participate in the Bharat Diamond Week. K.P. Abdul Salam, Vice Chairman of Malabar Group, highlighted Malabar Group's initiatives to promote "Diamond Jewellery" as an investment-oriented purchase. Mr. Yoram Dvash, President of WFDB, underscored India's significance as the most influential diamond destination in the global supply chain.
Mehul Shah, Vice-President of BDB, thanked the delegates and highlighted the importance of Bharat Diamond Week, the 'Only Diamond and Diamond Jewellery' exhibition. He lauded the phenomenal response from national and international delegations, expressing confidence in BDW's future growth and its ability to set new standards. He extended gratitude to the sponsors, BDB committee members, BDW team, and BDB staff for their efforts in making the 5th edition of BDW a grand success.
During Bharat Diamond Week, the "2nd Saurimo Diamond Hub Investment Forum, Angola" was hosted on the first day, with additional seminars and conferences, such as the 'AGDRT - Technology Symposium' organized by GII and the 'India Jewellery Designers' Forum,' scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of October. International visitor delegations were given a tour of Gem and Jewellery manufacturing units in SEEPZ Mumbai to witness firsthand the Industry's jewelry manufacturing expertise.
Bharat Diamond Week will run until October 4, 2023, offering exclusive and high-quality diamonds and diamond jewelry to buyers from India and around the world.
