The ongoing building of the gems and jewellery park in Howrah district of West Bengal (Eastern state of India), is likely to endure increase in costs over previous estimates, reports say. While the earlier cost estimate stood at Rs 53.8 crore, officials note that the new cost is estimated at of Rs. 60-70 crore. The officials note that the price hike is manageable. The project is supported by the Centre, with Rs 29.6 crore funding, reports add.

The park is conceived over 2.5 lakh square feet in two buildings, has begun receiving booking from gem and jewellery companies. Also, the government plans to dedicate two floors to the GJSCI’s training centre 'Dakhagraam'.
