Gahcho Kue is Canada’s 6th official diamond mine

Gahcho Kue situated at Kennady Lake in the Northwest Territories, approximately 80 kilometers from De Beers’s diamond mine at Snap Lake is Canada’s 6th official diamond mine. With Canadian Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Bernard Valcourt’s support, the joint venture worth $700M between a diamond company Mountain Province and De Beers will get in progress. Land and Water Board will now accept applications from the joint venture for a permit to build the mine itself. The Mackenzie Valley's Environmental Impact Review Board's passing grade acted as a catalyst for the minister's stamp of approval.
