SGL opens laboratory in Jaipur

Solitaire Gemological Laboratories (SGL) launched its eight laboratory in India, in the city of Jaipur, which is also Jaipur’s first international lab. SGL is headquartered in London.

Initially the Jaipur facility will offer diamond studded jewellery certification and polki diamond jewellery certification at the laboratory located at Mall 21, opp. Rajmandir Theatre. SGL will launch its laboratory services from the 2nd of April 2013, and Mobile Laboratory Services in Jaipur and throughout the state of Rajasthan, enabling jewellers to certify their entire stock on-site at their premises.

There are plans to launch Diamond Grading Professional course, a diploma course for six weeks, in July, which is also the first of its kind in Jaipur. The course will cover the entire journey of a diamond from mining to being set in jewellery. The course will also elucidate identification of diamond imitation, simulants, etc.

Claudia Domante, SGL's chief faculty from London and who will conduct the course in Jaipur said "This is an intensive course with a lot of practical experience on grading and plotting diamond inclusions, diamond colour grading and everything related to knowing a diamond."

Shaheen Bandukwalla, SGL's additional faculty also conducting the course at Jaipur said "Our goal is to deliver quality students who can be a great asset to the organization they work for or represent and that is the prime reason our batch has limited students so that we can focus on each student and make sure they clearly understand the topics."

In India, SGL so far has facilities in Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Thrissur & Coimbatore.
