The 10th edition of the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) was held between 22 to 25 December, 2012 at the Rajmahal Palace, exhibiting the splendor of Indian craft in jewellery and gemstones. This event is unique in being both a B2B and a B2C show.

Diamond jewellery was the show’s theme this year. The show underscored its importance in the gem and jewellery industry with its offerings of a wide variety of jewellery, designs across price brackets, the participating over 30,000 visitors including retailers, gemstone dealers, manufacturers, exporters and consumers, jewellers from Thailand and Hong Kong, and their counterparts from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Surat, Junagarh, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Meerut and Delhi.

There was a sumptuous offering of kundan and polki sets, emerald trails from chokers, rubalites edged kundan necklaces and diamond necklaces with emerald, rubies, sapphire and pearl based jewelleries, all in traditional and contemporary motifs.

Due to precious metal prices on rise, light weight jewellery with new innovations was appreciated. Also, diamonds and coloured stones found good demand. Flat colourstone pieces were appreciated for both being light in weight and reasonably priced. Fusion Jewellery with traditional art and craft, modern and traditional designs blended in deft manner, Kundan-Meena, Partash (Engraving) work, emerald and rubies (both loose stones & beads) were also appreciated. Beads & Tumbled stones combined with pearl and wearable strings attracted attention. Unusual shaped gemstone and carving generated immense interest.

The platform has been successful not only in its capacity as a trade event for gemstones, but has provided a brand identity to India’s city of gems – Jaipur.
