Firestone Diamonds has appointed Tim Wilkes as its new chief executive officer (CEO), who will take on the role from Phillip Kenny, who is being appointed as executive chairman. Tim Wilkes has been associated with the company as its chief operating officer since 2005. Part of his association has been in developing Firestone’s mining operations at the the Liqhobong mine in Lesotho and BK11 mine in Botswana.

The company is aiming at a production target of 1 million carats per year by 2014, and believes to be ‘on track’ to achieve the same. The mining company plans to hold a tender offering 5,000 carats from Liqhobong and 2,200 carats from BK11 between April 4 to April 14 at its offices in Botswana’s Diamond Technology Park.
