Fairly good business networking at JJS-2010

The Jaipur Jewellery Show 2010 spanning December 24-27, produced a decent turnout of business for exhibitors, a boost for Kundan Meena jewellery, and a grander scale of exhibition over its previous edition, ultimately ending on a promising note for business at Jaipur’s jewellery industry.

The show kept exhibitors fairly satisfied, despite some challenges like the Gujjar protest in Rajasthan which blocked roads and rail tracks especially at New Delhi and Agra areas, which impacted visitor traffic on the first two days. The last two days of the show saw a good turnout of visitors. Also retail jewellers were fewer than expected, partly due to the protests and partly due to the forthcoming IIJS –Signature by GJEPC in Mumbai in January, where over 400 exhibitors are participating.

Yet, the showcase by exhibitors kept the interest of visitors, with Kundan-Meena jewellery (the theme for JJS-2010) and diamond jewellery exhibited at select booths. Prominent colorstone jewellery sellers chose to concentrate on Kundan Meena jewellery and promote this segment.

The JJS organizers had received a response of a larger number of exhibitors this year and also delivered a better planned and organised show, larger in size, wider aisles. The show concluded with the awards for the best booth design, awarded to Sunita Shekawat, followed by Kalajee Jewellery in second place.
