U.S. chain store sales rise by 3%

The week that ended on June 5, 2010, saw U.S. chain-store sales increasing by 3 percent, from the same period last year, reports say. When compared on a weekly basis, the chain store sales rose by a mere 0.8 percent, nevertheless signaling an upward market trend.

Reports state that the warm weather conditions have spurred retail sales in the apparel section. Overall sales are expected to increase between 3 percent to 4 percent year-on-year, throughout June 2010.
