Human Rights Watch appeals to jewelers to ban trading in Marange diamonds

An appeal went out from the Human Rights Watch to all leading jewellers across the world, to refrain from selling diamonds from Zimbabwe. The issue of Zimbabwean diamonds has received a lot of criticism from major trade organisations and human right organisations, for the violations of human rights at the mining scenes in Marange area of Zimbabwe. Reports add that according to evidence, the diamonds are mined using forced labour, both adults and children. .

The Human Rights Watch has written a letter to jewellers such as Tiffany, Zale, Cartier, amongst others to stop Marange ‘blood diamond’ trading, until the issues are resolved.
