The Canadian Diamond Business Development Centre launched a new online website in both French and English. Alain Bernard, director of the Centre, said that Internet surfers "will find the mission and the mandate of the Centre, the composition of its board of directors, as well as a description of the services offered to the diamond industry, and to those interested in this field" on the new website-www.ccvd.org.

The mission of the Canadian Diamond Business Development Centre is to support the development of Canadas expertise in the diamond industry and its related fields in order to accelerate the growth of the value-added aspects of diamonds. The Centre offers mining and diamond cutting training programs, diamond certification/authentication for Canadas mined diamonds, research and development, and business support services for diamond industry players.

As part of its state-run mission, the Centre lists the following three mandates:

  • To insure the development of the expertise of Quebec and Canadian businesses in order to maximize the economic repercussions related to the diamond industry.
  • To insure the training of the Canadian workforce in the most promising dimensions of the sector for Quebec and Canada.
  • To get involved with its partners from the sector in research and development projects related to the diamond industry.
