JCK Las Vegas witnesses ecstatic buying and new jewellery trends

The mood at Vegas this year was anything but sombre – retailers from across the world congregated at JCK to stock up on fresh designs and keep abreast of hot trends that are currently seen widely in the world of jewellery. The first day opened to a packed crowd with long queues thronging the registration booths.

The U.S. will witness one of the highest numbers of weddings in 2022 since 1984 and the sentiment at JCK resonated with this prediction as buyers were eagerly scrutinising the lengths and breadths of the show floor in search of different-looking, innovative pieces.

The show was almost a celebration of sorts – exhibitors had put in hard work, which was evident in their collections. Both diamond and colour gemstone jewellery witnessed good response. Elegant diamond chokers and classic diamond pieces had their glorious moments at the show.

Huge demand for lab-grown diamond jewellery was backed by a huger presence of companies dealing with lab-grown diamond goods. A steep increase in price of natural diamonds might have something to do with this – the ongoing war coupled with shortage of inventory has led to the rise in price and this in turn might have led to a shift in growing demand for lab-grown diamonds. The average American buyer is still not ready to pay such a premium for natural diamonds.

Transformative jewellery, geometric shapes, jewels in bright colours, signet rings, men’s jewellery and classic diamond chandelier earrings were omnipresent at the show. A revival of tennis bracelets was evident and pieces in pearls were in high demand.

There were plenty of enquiries for plain, yellow gold jewellery as well as mountings. The show was followed by Luxury on Wednesday, giving buyers an added opportunity to scout for one-of-a-kind pieces for their ever-trendy customers.

All in all, JCK has set the tone for the coming months which are bound to be upbeat with strong consumer sentiment in the U.S. and the rest of the world.
