On one of the coldest mornings of the year, a warm 73rd Republic Day function was held at the Bharat Diamond Bourse and organised by the Security and Fire Safety Team of BDB. The Chief Guests included Dr P. Anbalagan, IAS, CEO-MIDC, Mumbai, Shri Prashant Parulekar, Deputy CFO Marol, Mumbai Fire Brigade, and Shri Vishnu Avhad, Sr Station Officer, BKC, Mumbai Fire Brigade. India’s 73rd Republic Day was planned keeping health in mind so, the entire diamond brigade came to the function on cycles!

It was a proud moment for the special dignitaries who were attending the event. Notable guests Shri Sabhyasachi Ray, ED-GJEPC and Shri Ashok Gajera, Regional Chairman-GJEPC from the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council; bigwigs form Bharat Diamond Bourse Shri Mehul Shah, Vice President, BDB, Shri Kiran Gandhi, Hon’ Secretary, BDB, Shri Paresh Mehta, Hon’ Joint Secretary, BDB, Shri Anup Zaveri, Hon’ Treasurer, BDB and committee members including Shri Kirti Bhansali, Shri Mahesh Vaghani, Shri Jaswant Parikh, Shri Jagdish Somani, Shri Saket Mehta, Shri Prakash Shah all together participated in the celebration with enthusiasm.

Dr P Anbalagan, IAS, CEO-MIDC in his speech revealed that India Jewellery Park Mumbai (IJPM) would be operational soon and asked for cooperation from the gems and jewellery industry and partake in nation building and social welfare. The flag hoisting was followed by a march past by the Security and Fire Team and the Housekeeping Team of the Bourse. Patriotic songs were sung with fervour and there was a show of un-armed combat and power. Next to follow was the Power Show and the Fire Safety Rescue Operation Drill.

This event was broadcast live online and participated by almost 1500 industry professionals. Mehul Shah, VP, BDB concluded the event by informing all present the benefits of yoga and cycling. He mentioned that a group of cyclists would travel to Surat, only to promote cycling and yoga.
