Event title:
India International Jewellery Show 2006 (Public)
Description:
Welcome to INDIA, the emerging Global Jewellery Hub.

Since time immemorial, India has been synonymous with gems and jewellery, India has given the world some of the rarest diamonds and was at one time the undisputed leader in this field.

Diamond production in India can be traced back to the 8th century BC, when the first ever diamond in the world was mined in India. Some of the world's most famous diamonds - Great Moghul, Kohinoor, Hope, Idol's Eye, etc. were born in India.

India was the sole producer and supplier of diamonds to the world before the discovery of Brazilian fields in the 17th century and the later emergence of South Africa, Russia and Australia as major producers.

Although India has virtually no diamond mines today, the Indian diamond trade generates over 4 billion dollars in exports every year.

11 out of 12 diamonds around the world are cut, polished and processed by Indian units.

India has a 95 per cent share in terms of pieces in the global production of cut and polished diamonds.

With over 3000 years of experience, huge investments in technology and the world's most skilled artisans, Indian Jewellery is making its presence felt across the globe.

Reason enough for you to take a second look at Indian Jewellery.
