The Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) edition for this year has been conceptualised on the theme Kundan Meena…A tradition that goes on the generations, inviting exhibitors and visitors to the Pink City, or Jaipur, the home for exquisite gem and jewellery and lapidary (processing and cutting of gems) in India. The event is slated between 24-27 December 2010.

The Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) carries the vision: giving an impetus to the Gems and Jewellery trade; placing Jaipur on the World Jewllery Map. This year, 411 booths have already been booked at the venue – the Rajmahal Palace and has a waiting list for 100 booths. Over 25,000 visitors are expected and around 4500 online registrations have already been taken. Rajmahal Palace - once the official residence of British Resident, and now a heritage hotel, has been divided into two parts: Ratan Mahal and the Emerald Palace; the main square in the emerald palace is known as “Manak Chowk” – and the sub-lanes among the stalls are suitably called: Novahera, Santariaza, Sakota, Sandwana, Zambian, Columbian, Russian, and Panchsher. The main roads are appropriately named as Tripolia Bazar and M.I. Road.

Since its launch in 2003 with 67 stalls, the JJS has grown with encouraging number of exhibitors, which prompted the venue to shift to the Rajmahal Palace owing to the greater space and facilities to the exhibitors, other participants and visitors.

A Kundan Meena promotion group has been set up to provide a fillip to this jewellery category.

A coffee table book on Kundan Meena is planned to be launched in the middle of next year, as a joint project between JJS and the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID). A Networking Dinner is slated on 24 December at the Gold Souk premises to enable networking amongst traders, retailers and the local jewellers. On this occasion the theme poster on Kundan Meena will be launched by the JJS.

The All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) Board of Directors have been invited. As many as 70 top jewellery retailers of the country are expected to attend. Two seminars are planned. Mr. Prashant Bhojani of Rapaport will present ‘Think Global, Act Local’ and the International Gemological Institute-(IGI) will present its seminar on ‘The Art of Grading Diamonds’. Knowledge sharing sessions on colourstones and consumer related topics will also be held. A Business Centre in JJS is also being organised. Focus on new trends in Jewellery bringing forth the latest in fashion from traditional heavy gold ornaments to light weight jewellery, fashion accessory and stone studded jewellery and Kundan Meena Jewellery.

One of the special features of the Jaipur Jewellery Show has been its eminent Chief Guests -- most of them related to the gems and jewellery field. This year the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Mr. D.K. Mittal, will be the Chief Guest. Principal Secretary, Industries and Chairman of RIICO, Mr. Sunil Arora, will be the Guest of Honour.

The event will be inaugurated by the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Mr. D.K. Mittal on 24 December. Principal Secretary, Industries and Chairman of RIICO, Mr. Sunil Arora, will be the Guest of Honour. Partners to the event are : GIA, DTC, GJEPC, WFDB, CIBJO, KPMG.
