GIA India organised a Knowledge Webinar on “July Birthstone: Ruby” for members of the gem and jewellery trade across India. More than 170 participants attended this webinar to learn important information about the gemstone.

 GIA India Instructor Vijay Parmar shared insights on the sources, histories and quality factors of ruby. The webinar also taught the participants information about laboratory-grown gems and simulants, along with a few care and cleaning tips.

 “This Knowledge Webinar on July Birthstone received good response from the trade,” said Manoj Singhania, Director – Education, GIA India. “It was engaging and participants interacted with the instructor to gain knowledge about this beautiful gemstone.”

 “I have been a part of many such knowledge sessions by GIA India. All the seminars have always been focused and delivered with great expertise on the subject,” said Prashanth Vummidi, Owner, Prakruthi Vummidi Bangaru Store, Chennai. “The recent webinar on rubies presented a detailed explanation about the gemstone, demystified a few myths and highlighted several facts. GIA has been at the forefront of delivering reliable information and I thank them for this wonderful initiative.”

 “Due to COVID-19, many members of the trade are not able to connect and interact with experts as we were used to. GIA India’s webinar served as a great introduction to the gemstone, Ruby. The world of gem and jewellery is so vast that any educational information from a credible and knowledgeable resource like GIA is always welcome,” said Sweta Saraf, Creative Director, Soham Shyam Creatives, Gurgaon. “I believe business is gradually moving towards coloured gemstones and the knowledge gained in this webinar will comes in handy as a buyer and as a seller.”
