NSQF is an internationally recognized parameter to measure the skills acquired by an individual. The scheme offers are cognition to artisans who have obtained skills through informal mediums of learning by providing them with a certificate after successful assessments. The scheme offers the employer the flexibility to conduct assessment of its employees within its premises through their Supervisors or Managers. The scheme also offers attractive benefits like monetary reward of Rs.500/- to each certified artisan along with an accidental insurance policy upto Rs. 2 lac for a term of 3 years.
With a keen desire for the welfare of the employees SRK Group is the first in the Diamond Cutting & Polishing group to have enrolled its employees for the Recognition of Prior Learning Scheme (RPL) – 4 under PMKVY Scheme through Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI). The Assessments were conducted at the very premises of SRK Group in Surat byGJSCI.

As GJSCI promotes the Digital India campaign the assessments too were conducted through an online digital platform thereby making it more efficient, convenient and in an expediated manner. The employers were satisfied with the manner in which the entire process was carried out without any loss of working hours. This has encouraged them to further continue and enroll its 2827 employees under RPL-4 (BICE) which is planned in 3 phases. So far, 1903 employees have been assessed and certified in the pilot phase of RPL-4 which completes the 2 phases.

On 13th April, 2019 a grand certification ceremony was held as part of SRK's Annual Day Celebration in Surat. Over 18,000 people were part of this grand ceremony. Shri.Govind kak aDholakia the founder and Chairman of SRK Group was present at the ceremony along with the SRK family. Mr.Rajeev Garg,Executive Director and CEO,GJSCI was also present at the dias along with Shri. Manish Kumar, MD & CEO, NSDC who was specially invited to felicitate the candidates with government issued certificates.

Manish Kumar asserted that “RPL is an important aspect of nation building which SRK has initiated as only 4% of the skilled workforce of India is certified whereas the other although skilled are still uncertified. SRK has set a good example by initiating this with a very modern attitude towards their work.”

Shri. Govind Dholakia (Govindkaka) said “The benefit of the employees has always been our primary concern and we put their skill development & well-being at top priority so with the same spirit, we decided to conduct Recognition of PriorLearning(RPL)-4 exercise for our employees. It is again a very good initiative by NSDC through GJSCI. RPL-4isa good opportunity to certify the existing workforce of our industry. I would like to wish GJSCI all the very best towards their skilling programs.”

In the past GJSCI had conducted RPL-1 (Camps) in Jaipur for RMC Gems India Limited, Sambhav Jewels, Pushpa Gems, Dhamani Exports, Takat Gems, Vaibhav Gems, Vaibhav Global and Amiable Jewellery Pvt. Ltd etc. Their employees have been assessed and certified in a formal certification ceremony held in Jaipur.

Mr. Sanjay Kala, President JAJ and in addition Director, GJSCI says “GISCI is the nodal agency for skill development activities in the gem & jewellery sector. We appreciate the various initiatives taken by GJSCI for the sector time to time. RPL-4 (BICE) is an excellent scheme initiated by GJSCI. The scheme is immensely befitting the artisans by rewarding them an accidental insurance policy up to Rs. 2 lakh for 3 years without incurring any cost and issuance of certificate of their skills by the Government of India. With regard to apprentice program we will have easy access to skill library of different artisans on a single portal. We see potential opportunity of reduction of 40% while hiring skilled manpower for an establishment & we think this is an attractive proposal for any businessmen”.

Mr. Rajeev Garg, urged that “all employers in Jaipur too should have their employees enrolled under RPL-4 (BICE) and help them obtain a government recognition of their already acquired skills along with a monetary reward and accidental insurance cover at no cost to the employers. You could get in touch with us and we assure you to conduct this in as mooth and efficient manner with a hassle-free process."
