Mark Gershburg, Founder and CEO of Gemological Science International (GSI)), has made the decision to step down as director of USKPA. The USKPA is the only organization of its kind in the world. It’s a trade association that works closely with the U.S. Government to prevent the infiltration of “conflict diamonds” into legitimate trade.

Proud to be part of the worldwide fight against illicit diamonds, Gershburg has spent over a decade as one of the three directors for the USPKPA.

“It was a difficult decision to make, but the growth of GSI left me very little time for other activities. I don’t want to be part of any organization if I can’t dedicate my time to it. I hope that my departure from the USKPA will be an opportunity for it to bring in younger generation as my replacement. This way we can ensure that the fight against illicit diamond trade will continue and the younger generations will be engaged in this important initiative,” Gershburg said, adding that “I on other hand will be able to concentrate on GSI while it continues to expand globally and diversify its services in the ever evolving diamond industry.”

Gemological Science International (GSI) is the only major gemological body established in the 21st century. Founded in 2005 in New York City, it provides reliable gemstone identification and grading services, is engaged in gemological research, and also offers a variety of educational programs to help prepare the new generation of professionals.

GSI is proud to offer gemological services that are reliable, efficient, and convenient on a global scale by working in close proximity to our clients. Therefore, it has grown to become one of the largest gemological entities in the world with offices spanning four continents.
