This year’s International Jewellery Fair (IJF) in Sydney will feature a major new highlight: Bling It On, a landmark industry-wide celebration uniting Australia’s three leading jewellery buying groups for the first time.
Scheduled to run during the IJF weekend from August 23–25 at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour, the Bling It On event will be jointly supported by Nationwide Jewellers, Showcase Jewellers, and the Independent Jewellers Collective.
Traditionally, each group has held separate awards events during the fair, often creating logistical and scheduling challenges for retailers and suppliers. The new initiative aims to streamline these events into one grand evening, maximising time, cost efficiency, and unity across the sector.
“This will be a great celebration for the whole industry,” said Gary Fitz-Roy, managing director of Expertise Events, the organisers of IJF. “This initiative brings efficiency and unity to the forefront—one night, one celebration, one industry.”
The evening will be open to all jewellery retailers, including independent and manufacturing jewellers, as well as suppliers and key industry associations such as the Gemmological Association of Australia (GAA), the National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV), and the Opal Association of Australia (OAA).
Following positive feedback from this year’s Australian Jewellery Fair on the Gold Coast—and building on the success of the Mystery Box Challenge for jewellery apprentices—Fitz-Roy noted that students are also encouraged to attend the event, highlighting its inclusive and forward-looking vision.
A special organising committee with representatives from each of the buying groups has been formed, and further details, including the exact time and location of the Bling It On event, will be announced in the coming weeks.
“By combining efforts, the buying groups are putting the good of the industry first,” said Fitz-Roy. “This evening will not only offer glamour and recognition but also strengthen relationships and open new avenues for collaboration across the jewellery trade.”
The event promises to be a defining moment for Australia’s jewellery community—bringing together tradition, innovation, and the shared future of an evolving industry.
