The Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, Shanghai Diamond Exchange and Tokyo Diamond Exchange, strengthening its engagement with key Asian diamond markets.

The agreements were signed during the 41st World Diamond Congress in Singapore on August 19, 2026. QDE Director Ghanim Nasser Al Saadi signed the agreements with Fabio Cascapera, President of the Diamond Exchange of Singapore; Lin Qiang, President of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange; and Michio Iwasaki, President of the Tokyo Diamond Exchange.

The MoUs establish frameworks for business connections between members of the participating exchanges, including commercial introductions and wider cooperation. The agreements also provide for bilateral visits and reciprocal participation in industry events, tenders, auctions and viewings organised by the exchanges.

The partnerships are intended to support trade and cooperation between Qatar and Asian markets while promoting consumer confidence in natural diamonds and coloured gemstones. They also encourage adherence to recognised industry standards, including the World Diamond Council’s System of Warranties and initiatives led by the Responsible Jewellery Council.

Ghanim Nasser Al Saadi said the partnerships would create channels for trade, investment and industry collaboration while supporting Doha’s potential role as a gateway between Asian diamond markets and international trade.

The presidents of the three partner exchanges also highlighted opportunities for stronger member connections, knowledge exchange and commercial cooperation.
