The Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) has been admitted as a National Association Member of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, expanding the exchange’s international industry affiliations beyond the diamond trade to the wider jewellery, gemstone and precious metals sectors. QNA

The membership was approved during CIBJO’s centenary year, marking 100 years since the organisation was founded in 1926. CIBJO’s work is centred on its Blue Books, which establish international standards and terminology covering diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls, precious metals, gemmological laboratories and responsible sourcing. Broader Industry Mandate

As a National Association Member, QDE will participate in CIBJO’s sectoral commissions and contribute to discussions around standards, terminology and disclosure practices governing the global jewellery and gemstone trade.

Ghanim Nasser Al Saadi, Director, Qatar Diamond Exchange, said the membership connects Qatar with CIBJO’s century-long work in developing standards for the global jewellery and gemstone industry. He added that the broader mandate reflects the scope QDE was established to serve, extending beyond diamonds to coloured stones, pearls and precious metals. QNA

CIBJO President Dr Gaetano Cavalieri welcomed QDE’s membership, noting Qatar’s stated commitment to international standards and responsible trade and its potential contribution to the organisation’s commissions. QNA

Strengthening Qatar’s International Trade Network

The CIBJO membership follows QDE’s admission to the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the World Diamond Council (WDC). The exchange has also entered into partnerships with diamond bourses in Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo and Italy, expanding its international network since its launch. instoremag.com

Launched in July 2026 and based at Ras Bufontas Free Zone, QDE operates as a regulated platform for diamond trading and related industry services. The exchange aims to connect Doha with international markets while supporting Qatar’s diamond and precious-stones sector and the country’s economic diversification objectives under Qatar National Vision 2030.
