The Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) of Botswana has successfully completed its rough diamond viewing session at the India Diamond Trading Centre (IDTC), located within the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). The event drew participation from more than 94 diamond companies and 209 potential buyers, who inspected ODC’s high-quality rough diamonds.
The strong turnout and enthusiasm among participants underscored India’s pivotal role in the global diamond pipeline and reinforced the importance of direct engagement between mining entities and manufacturers.
Commenting on the response, Mehul Shah, Vice President of Bharat Diamond Bourse and Director of IDTC, said, “We just witnessed a remarkable response from participants for the ODC viewing session in IDTC, and this perhaps would motivate a greater number of mining entities from across the world to make IDTC an important platform for viewing rough diamonds. Direct viewing sessions will also help direct sales to manufacturers and enable mining entities such as ODC to derive the best prices for their diamonds. We hope ODC will continue holding viewing sessions with IDTC as this will provide immense value to both ODC and our Indian diamond manufacturers.”
The success of the ODC session is expected to pave the way for more international mining companies to host viewing and sales events at the IDTC in Mumbai, further strengthening India’s position as the world’s leading diamond manufacturing hub.
