The newly-established Surat Diamond Bourse is set to unveil a Special Notified Zone (SNZ), primarily designed to streamline the import of rough diamonds from major mining entities. The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) asserts that this SNZ will be the most significant of its kind in India.

Spanning 4,500 square feet, the facility will include 15 cabins, a state-of-the-art high-security monitoring room, and a comprehensive 24/7 security system.

The concept of establishing an SNZ at the $355 million Surat Diamond Bourse, recognized as the world's largest office building, was initially disclosed in 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the World Diamond Conference in Delhi.
