Huawei has partnered with jewellery designer Francesca Amfitheatrof to introduce a diamond-set smartwatch positioned within the high jewellery segment, marking a notable collaboration between the technology and luxury sectors.
The product, developed under Amfitheatrof’s independent venture, Amfitheatrof Studio, integrates traditional jewellery craftsmanship with advanced smartwatch functionality. The design features a diamond-set case incorporating 99 natural diamonds, with additional stones on the bracelet and crown, alongside materials such as sapphire crystal and titanium.
While retaining core smartwatch capabilities — including health monitoring, fitness tracking and connectivity features — the piece is positioned primarily as a jewellery-led offering rather than a conventional wearable device.
The launch reflects a broader shift in both industries, with technology companies increasingly engaging established jewellery designers to elevate product positioning, while designers explore new formats beyond traditional categories. The collaboration also highlights a growing focus on women-centric luxury wearables, where aesthetics and material value play a central role.
For the jewellery trade, the development signals the emergence of a hybrid category combining high jewellery design codes with digital functionality. It also underscores the potential for cross-industry partnerships to create new product segments that appeal to luxury consumers seeking both craftsmanship and technological integration.
