Govind Dholakia, a 74-year-old prominent diamantaire, has been nominated as a Rajya Sabha member from BJP. He is founder and chairman of Shree Ramkrishna Exports Private Limited, a Surat-based diamond manufacturing and exporting company. He is a first-generation entrepreneur. He started the company in 1970. He is renowned for his significant contributions as a social worker, he is associated with various leading Gujarati social service organizations. With assets totaling around Rs 4800 crore, Dholakia expressed that entering politics was something he had never envisioned.
