Amazon launches a point-of-sale solution

Amazon has launched a point-of-sale solution for retailers to accept debit and credit cards through a smartphone or tablet. This is Amazon’s entry into the brick and mortar space, which combines the application of online ease. With this, Amazon intends to ease the payment accepting procedure and ensure smoother business.

“Amazon Local Register,” is the name for the credit card reader and mobile application. Users are to create an account on localregister.amazon.com, buy a $10 card reader, and download the free mobile app either from the Amazon AppStore, Apple App Store or Google Play, reports say.

The online retailer has ensured adaptability of its new offering, as such the card reader is compatible with most smartphones and tablets, while Amazon Local Register accepts all major credit and debit cards for a low, flat rate with no hidden fees, reports add. The transaction money can be deposited into banks within a day or used to buy something from Amazon.com. The app also offers business tracking tools and other facilities to stay better informed, reports add.
