Israel is bringing in a large participation at the forthcoming September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair. The Israel Diamond Pavilion is expected to be the largest at the show, set up at the Asia World Expo. The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is slated from September 15 – 19, 2014.

The pavilion is organized by the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI). It will extend over 1200 square meters and will feature 96 companies, seven more than last year. Another 30 Israeli companies will exhibit at other locations throughout the show.

The Pavilion though larger than last year, has fallen short of the demand by Israeli companies to participate in the September show. A waiting list included close to 40 companies who were not able to participate.

A special lounge area for buyers will be located at the heart of the pavilion, catering to buyers and will be outfitted with terminals featuring the Find Your Diamond system. This computerized database of all goods offered by Israeli exhibitors at the show will enable buyers to easily locate exactly the goods they are seeking.

This year IDI will again be sponsoring the show’s opening reception, and will act as Honoured Partner of the JNA Awards, at a ceremony and gala dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel in Hong Kong on September 16th.

Hong Kong is today Israel’s second largest market for polished diamonds after the United States.

IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said, “We see Asia, with Hong Kong as its leading entry point, as a vast and largely untapped market for diamonds. Our experience to date in Hong Kong, China and other markets has shown that we have only begun to scratch the surface,” he said.

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said, “Based on our previous experience we are quite optimistic that this will be an excellent show,” Avidar stated.
