The Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL), the Official Diamond Laboratory of JA New York and the Couture Pavilion and Club at JA New York, will demonstrate clarity and light performance of diamonds during the JA New York Summer Show to be held between July 29 Aug. 1, 2007. GCAL will also introduce its patented Electronic Diamond Grading Certificate.

The optical light performance demo will portray GCALs proprietary direct light assessment system live, on actual diamonds, while the clarity demo, will analyse the diamond clarity grades of SI2 and I1, and VS2 and SI1. According to Don Palmieri, GCAL President, the transition between these key clarity grades can make a difference of 30% the diamond value.

The electronic Grading Certificate system offers an online search function that can pull up any GCAL Diamond Certificate. Each certificate is meant to interpret 4Cs quality indicators, the meaning behind conflict-free diamonds, and much more. Mr. Palmieri mentioned that it is a wonderful sales tool to help salespeople, and train them in the store. Also its digital system does away with the problem of loosing certificates. All certificates are stored together electronically, away from the diamond counter. The system would role out into retail stores later this year.

The GCAL booth will be located in the Crystal Palace entrance to the show (Hall 3B) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
