The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has extended its range of services with the launch of a new consumer mobile application for Android/IOS – coined “my Diamond, my Jewelry”. Through this application, retailers with IGI certificates will be better connected to consumers, keeping them updated with the latest jewellery trends and information, and helping them to ultimately make an educated choice when buying.

IGI launched this initiative at the recently concluded India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) 2014, where the IGI professionals demonstrated the features of the app and helped visitors download it on their mobile devices.

IGI also plans to open its next grading laboratory and education institute in Jaipur, to serve clients in Rajasthan and Northern India, which are currently served by the Institute’s New Delhi laboratory. IGI India Managing Director Tehmasp Printer added, “IGI’s new mobile application combines the Institute’s international grading expertise with accessible technology – marking a major milestone in the evolution of certification in India.”

At the IIJS, IGI’s senior gemological professionals showcased the Institute’s latest certification and educational offerings; provided information on the vital importance of certification; met with clients, visitors and other exhibitors; and responded to queries and suggestions; all in an effort to ensure closer collaboration and better serve its clients. It also featured a “Live Grading Laboratory”.

“Awareness of the need for quality and certification is rising among consumers. A worldwide platform like IIJS helps further provide assurance and builds confidence among both trade members and consumers alike,” said Mr. Printer.
