Alrosa noted a 12 percent rise (on y-o-y basis) in its total revenues for 2013, amounting to US$4.66 billion, reports say. Its diamond unit recorded a 15 percent increase (on y-o-y basis) in sales in volume terms to 38 million carats and in value terms sales from this unit were up 11 percent to US$4 billion.

The company attributes the increase in its overall sales to rise in its rough diamond sales and production beginning at its gas assets, reports add.

The company sold 26.7 million carats of gem-quality rough diamonds and 11.3 million carats of industrial rough diamonds in the said year, which accounted for a dip in value terms on y-o-y basis - 9 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

Group production rose 7 percent to 36.9 million carats. Net profit dropped 5 percent to US$878.8 million. The company plans to construct new production facilities and upgrade the current facilities, reports say.
