Gem Diamonds sells both +160 carat diamonds at Letseng tender

Gem Diamonds Limited has been successful in selling two stones of +160-carats each, registering top prices as per the stones’ colours, clarity and expected polished yield, reports say. One stone, of 162.02-carats sold for US$11.1 million, or US$68,687 per carat. The second, a 161.31-carat diamond sold for US$2.4 million, or US$14,636 per carat, reports say.

The sale was part of the Letseng's February tender.

Gem Diamonds had recovered both the stones from the Letseng mine in Lesotho in January 2104.
