Japan's polished diamond imports drop 18% in June

In June 2013, the polished diamond imports into Japan took a 18 percent slide ( on y-o-y basis) to $74.6 million, and it rose in volume by 28 percent ‎to 243,497 carats. The average price of the said diamonds decreased 36 percent to $306 per ‎carat, reports say.

In terms of the contribution by major global diamond centers, towards the said imports, India's contribution rose 8 percent to $33.5 million. Imports from Israel dropped 38 percent to $4 million, from Belgium it slid 33 percent to $18.6 million, reports add.
