A ring entitled 'Orpheus' sold for around $2.6 million (around five times its presale estimate) at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction in Hong Kong in May, reports say. The creation was by contemporary jewellery artist Anna Hu, who created the jewel as a lyrical invocation of the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in precious gems.

A jadeite solitaire of 45.39 carats, surrounded by pavé diamonds sits at the centre of the ring. There is a drop of briolette emerald, shaped like a note, lending symbolism to music. There are also yellow and pink diamonds weighing a total of 4.51 carats, mounted in 18-karat white, rose and yellow gold, reports add.
