U.S polished diamond imports rise 21.5% in November

Volume of polished diamond imports rise 27.8%

U.S noted an increase in the value and volume of its polished diamond imports in November 2012. The value of said imports rose 21.5 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $1.876 billion, while the volume rose 27.8 percent to 974,815 carats.

Exports of polished diamonds stood at $1.298 billion after a fall of 11.2 percent (on y-o-y) basis.

Net imports were $578million (the same was $83million in Novber 2011).

The country's rough diamond imports in the said month decreased 27.9 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $49 million. Exports of rough diamonds dropped 4.9 percent to $39 million. Net rough imports stood at $10 million after falling 62.9 percent on y-o-y basis.

Net diamond account was $588 million (the same was $110 million in November 2011)
