GIA conducts seminar on gems for Inner Wheel Club of Bombay North

GIA’s (Gemological Institute of America) organised a special event to acquaint women of the Inner Wheel Club of Bombay North with the world of gems. The initiative was experienced by 35 women, In addition to an interactive tour of GIA’s diamond grading laboratory, attended a private event at GIA’s Mumbai campus, which included a special seminar on characteristics of diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires and pearls. The seminar also highlighted the history of popular gems of the world, the rapid growth of the Indian gem and jewellery market in India and practical advice on jewellery care.

The Inner Wheel Association of India, set up in 1955, is the Indian arm of the International Inner Wheel, whose core mission is “giving children a better life.” In India, members of this organization undertake social service projects ranging from educating young women to protecting the environment. Nirupa Bhatt, managing director of GIA in India and the Middle East, said “GIA’s mission has always been to serve the public and help instil consumer confidence in the industry, and we hope all our visitors develop an active and informed interest in gems and jewellery.”

“As consumers, the session helped us to understand our jewels and their care,” said Vinita Agarwal, president of the Inner Wheel Club of Bombay North.
