Tiffany & Co. and Leo Schachter Diamonds are chosen by the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) as recipients of its GOOD Awards. DEF had established the awards with the purpose to recognize and honour individuals and corporations within the diamond and jewellery industry, for their leadership in corporate citizenship, sustainability, and promoting opportunity in Africa, reports say. Tiffany & Co. and Leo Schachter Diamonds were recognized for this honour for their contribution towards empowering people in Africa. Tiffany & Co.’s efforts in promoting business practices and programs to benefit communities in diamond sourcing areas in Africa and Leo Schachter Diamonds promoting employment as one of the first to establish a cutting factory in Botswana and also to establish the DEF beneficiary - Botswana Top Achievers Program, were their contributions towards people empowerment in Africa.

The GOOD Awards are slated for January 10, 2013, in New York City, reports suggest.
