IIGJ hosts workshop on Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights

The Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ) conducted a workshop on Innovation and IPR (Intellectual Property Rights), for the design and jewellery industry, to strengthen their knowledge on these topics also of concern to their profession.

Mr. Deepak Mehra - an expert in this field was invited by IIGJ to educate on this new subject.

Innovative jewellery designs or manufacturing techniques have a particular value to its creator and as such they should be guarded against their unauthorized use by filing patents with proper governmental agencies. Through this workshop Mr. Mehra helped the students understand the importance, difference and application of Patents, Trademarks and Copy writes etc through an audio visual presentation, interactive sessions and group discussions.

The workshop was attended by students and industry representatives.

An electrical Engineer by profession, Mr. Mehra chose to specialize in this subject after working with L&T for 15yrs. During his working tenure he opted to explore the process of patenting which later became his inspiration and motive to combine Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights.
