diamond world news service

OGI Systems Group has created the world’s first Portable Grading System for polished diamonds and has named it UNOScope HD. The company will be launching this product at the Hong Kong Jewelery & Gem Fair 2012.

The UNOScope HD includes an innovative technology based on 64bit, contributing to ultrafast calculation capacity, that within six seconds one can arrive at polished diamond's proportion grading. This system can also be connected to laptops, with which traveling wholesalers can estimate cut quality of any polished diamond while on the road.

The UNOScope HD is based on High Resolution digital Cameras, for maximum accuracy, enabling retailers to easily demonstrate their diamond's proportion and symmetry to customers at the store. An innovative technology is also embedded to measure the polished diamond's symmetry. This is the first time optical instruments are used for symmetry grading of polished diamonds.

This new system was developed in cooperation with several leading labs around the world and was accepted as their main gemological tool for grading polished stones and issuing certificates.

According to OGI's CEO, Mr. Daniel Benjano, this innovative system constitutes a breakthrough in the capability of wholesalers, retailers and labs to measure polished diamonds and grade them rapidly and in maximum accuracy.
