Surat, India’s hub for diamond cutting and polishing is soon going to also be the country’s first city to have a dedicated diamond gallery for the public, reports say. This venture is the endeavour of the Surat Municipal Corporation. The gallery will inform the public about the aspects of diamond cutting and polishing, across five audio-visual centres set up at the gallery, which will explain the process to visitors through a documentary, reports suggest.

The gallery will be opened city’s Science Centre and is expected to be completed within three months. The gallery will also be a platform to narrate the key role of Surat in the global diamond industry. The project is being set up with the assistance of IDI and is expected to be set up at an estimated cost of around Rs.20 crore, reports say.
