The India international Jewellery Week (IIJW) 2011 concluded two days of unveiling a whole new fresh perspective of jewellery designing, as rendered by renowned jewellery designers, jewellery retail houses and young talent.

Royalty was interpreted by jewellery retail house Tanishq, through its ‘Jewels of Falaknuma’ collection, which is designed on inspirations of jewellery lore of the Nizams of the olden days. The collection portrayed the skills of enamelling, filigree, granulation, nakkashi (Repousse) and kundan work, applied to rose cut diamonds, Burmese rubies, emeralds, and Basra pearls in fusion style jewellery.

Amrapali defined bold jewellery trends with its three collection - silver, Art Deco and gold with Jadau work, with one-of a kind designs like a majestic trio of uncut diamond sets with Jadau jewellery, earrings, hair ornaments, armlets, rings and belt (which was also the showstopper), a giant chain necklace, another with maxi beads that touched the navel, uncut diamonds, rubies and emeralds, pronged Rani Haars, and kundan and pearl maxi necklaces.

Unconventional designs came from Rosily Paul Vadakkel in the “Reflection of Colours” collection that saw the use of gems, enamels and beads, fabrics, leather added to diamonds and gold, jali work.

‘AUM MONICA KAPUR’, a collection by Monica Kapur defined elegance and sophistication in jewellery motifs with delicate lines, while her bridal showcase carried hints of traditional design sensibilities (also elegance in itself).

Diamond jewellery was celebrated in its classic style of being ‘ A girl’s Best friend’ as Gehna Jewellers unveiled its collection.

In the vein of classic and traditional, C KRISHNIAH CHETTY AND SONS brought out a tale of the grandeur in traditional design and the harmony of contemporary and classic styles in its collections of temple and bridal jewellery and cocktail collection.
