Alrosa’s rough diamond sales up 9% in H1’ of 2011

In the first half of 2011, Alrosa noted a 41 percent increase in the prices of its rough diamonds being sold during these said six months, in which, the average per carat stood at $113 per carat, rising from $80 per carat in H1 of 2010. The mining major achieved sales worth $2.16 billion (an increase of 9 percent), for the 19.1 million carats of diamonds it sold in the period. The company’s production in the said six months stood at 19 million carats. Its net income valued $598 million, (increasing five fold), while operating profit rose 25 percent to $846 million.
