Avi Paz, president of the WFDB, sent condolences on behalf of the WFDB to Anoop Mehta, President of the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai, India, following the bomb attacks on July 13th in Mumbai. He mentioned that , "We were shocked to hear about the terrorist bombing attacks that hit Mumbai yesterday that claimed the lives of so many innocent people, some of them members of the diamond business community in Mumbai”. Mr. Paz also extended support "As you know, the international diamond business community is always ready to offer assistance in times of difficulty and this may be such a moment."

in the past, the WFDB has raised funds for communities that were stricken by disaster, as in the case of Sri Lanka after the island was hit by a tsunami in the winter of 2004.
