India’s G&J exports rise 33.5% in May’11

Exports of gold jewellery and articles up 47.16%

India’s gem and jewellery exports in May 2011 valued US$ 3,705.59 million, increasing 33.5 percent from US$ 2,775.70 million in May 2010. In this basket, the value of cut and polished diamond exports rose 23.52 percent to US$ 2,221.89 million (US$ 1,798.84 million in May 2010).

Coloured gemstone exports valued US$ 26.99 million, up 9.01 percent from US$ 24.76 million in May 2010. Exports of gold jewellery and gold medallion and coins valued US$ 1,240.24 million (growing by 47.16 percent from US$ 842.77 million in May 2010).

Silver jewellery exports stood at US$ 44.46 million, an increase of 56.16 percent from US$ 28.47 million in May 2010.
