Having completed the translation of its IDC Rules in Arabic, the International Diamond Council (IDC) presented the first printed copy to Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the executive chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) during the concluding gala dinner of the 2011 Presidents' Meeting of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) in United Arab Emirates earlier this month.

"As the IDC Rules are a living document that is continuously updated, I am sure that by giving the DMCC and the Dubai Diamond Exchange the stewardship of the Arabic translation, we can rest assured that updates and corrections will be made diligently and timely," said WFDB Treasurer Dieter Hahn, a founding member of IDC and an IDC officer since 1975. "Now, the IDC rules have been made accessible to many more millions of professionals and consumers", he further added.

At the time of presenting the document, Hahn said that IDC had given high priority to the translation due to the significant growth seen in the Middle Eastern diamond and diamond jewellery market in recent years.

Currently, the IDC Rules are available in the authoritative English version, and translations in Russian, Chinese, German and Arabic.
