NRF survey suggests indulgent spends on Mother’s Day

According to a survey by National Retail Federation (NRF) and BIGresearch, celebrations for Mother’s day in the US would well be indulged into, reports suggest. The overall spends on gifting is expected to increase this year touching around $16.3 billion, reports say. Of this jewellery spends are likely to touch $3.04 billion rising 21 percent over last year. The category of jewellery as a gift is expected to be a popular choice, with 31 percent of buyers ( 5 percentage points higher than last year) intending to select this as a gift. The average receipt on jewellery is expected to be about $84 per shopper, reports add.

Besides jewellery, the other categories of indulging in a ‘gift’ for Mothers is likely to be flowers, dining, clothing and accessories.
