Marange diamond exports await approval

diamond world news service

Diamond exports from Marange are yet to see all approvals in place, it seems. After having received approvals from member governments of the Kimberley Process to a revised version of the Jerusalem Agreement, IDI reports that Bloomberg says that the KP has now asked the Zimbabwean government to furnish a "credible anti-smuggling enforcement plan’, for the KP to grant approvals and the stipulation as appearing in the documents has been authenticated by new KP Chairman Mathieu Yamba of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reports also suggest that Zimbabwe is yet to reply. A few days ago the World Diamond Council had asked all members to refrain from dealing with Marange diamonds as yet, since formal approvals by KP are awaited.
